Riley the bear
This graphic design studio focused on using the power of design to help needy non-profit organizations in Peoria, IL tell their stories and reach out to their constituents. Over the span of the spring semester, a team of 9, including myself, worked on a graphic design project for real clients from Peoria’s Pediatric Resource Center (PRC). The PRC provides services directly to children suspected to be victims of physical and sexual abuse or neglect in a child-friendly manner and setting.
A storybook entitled “Riley The Bear” was created with the goal of educating and bringing hope to children affected by abuse, and of raising much-needed finds for the center. The book follows Riley through his visit to PRC, intending to familiarize children with the potentially uncomfortable process at the clinic that often follows a traumatic experience in their lives. The book was to be marketed at PRC fundraising events and in local schools, to raise awareness of child abuse and neglect, and of the services that are available in the local community.
